AIG Senior Cup holders Co Sligo lie 18th out of 24 following the opening round of the fog-delayed European Men's Club Trophy in Portugal.

With the best two cards to count each day in the 54-hole stroke play event, trio from Rosses Point are on seven over par 151 at Aroeira Golf Club.

TJ Ford shot a three over 75 and and Ruairi O'Connor a 76 with David Brady's 77 discarded.

Royal Dublin’s Hugh Foley put on a ball-striking clinic to open up a seven-shot lead before two closing bogeys for a five-under 66 left him five clear of Castleknock’s Paul Coughlan heading into the final round of the West of Ireland Championship at County Sligo.
