Purdy motors to seven-shot win in Leinster Seniors
Shandon Park’s Philip Purdy birdied his last two holes to claim an impressive seven-stroke victory in the Leinster Seniors Amateur Open at Carlow.
Leading by one stroke from Greystones’ 2017 Irish Mid-Amateur champion Alan Condren after an opening 70, he added a two-under 68 in the second round to finish on two-under par 138.
Tuam’s Alan Moran, who also shot a fine 68 on the second day, edged out Carlow’s Tommy Lennon on a countback for second place with Condren fourth on six-over after a 75.
Greystones’ Barry O'Leary won the veterans’ prize with a score of 149.
