Ireland beat Switzerland 3.5-1.5 will play Sweden in the semi-finals of the European Senior Women's Team Championship in Poland on Friday.
Sweden will clearly be no pushovers as they showed when they overcame second place qualifiers and championship holders France by winning the last two matches on the 20th.
Ireland were too good for the Swiss and after the foursomes match of Carol Wickham and Sheena McElroy ended up in a halved match. Jackie Dangel-Orley beat Suzanne Corcoran 4&3 before Irish Seniors Close champion Gertie McMullen from The Island proved her class with a 7&5 win.
Tralee's Mary Sheehy and East Berkshire's Laura Webb followed suit with 3&2 and 4&3 wins, respectively to send Ireland through to the last four.
England will face Belgium in the other semi-final bidding for their second win in an event which was first played in 2006.
Ireland have also won the title just once with their win coming at Bled Golf Club in Slovenia in 2013.
