Another deal for Dunne: KPMG Ireland step in to sponsor Greystones star
It seems unlikely that Paul Dunne will need a Team Ireland Golf Trust grant this year after he landed yet another sponsor today in KPMG Ireland.
The 23 year old from Greystones, who already has deals with Davy and the Hartl Resort in Germany, joins five-time Major champion Phil Mickelson and two-time LPGA Major champion Stacy Lewis as a KPMG brand ambassador.
Like his fellow ambassadors, Dunne will display the KPMG logo on the front of his cap as he competes around the world.
Set to launch his relationship with KPMG at the PGA TOUR’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week, Dunne said: ”I am very honoured to be associated with a brand like KPMG as I compete internationally on the European and PGA TOURs.
"It is an honour to join Phil Mickelson and Stacy Lewis as a fellow KPMG ambassador, two players whom I greatly admire and I look forward to learning from them as I embark on my professional career.”
Since making the transition to the professional ranks in 2015, Dunne has already made an impression on the golf world, having led the Dunhill Links in his first event as a professional last year.
This year, he's already clinched his first top 10 finish on the European Tour at the Jo'Burg Open and finished tied 13th on his PGA TOUR debut at the 2016 Farmers Insurance Open.
Last year, he became the first amateur in 88 years to lead the Open Championship after 54 holes, teeing off alongside Louis Oosthuizen in the final group.
He went on to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the Walker Cup, helping them to a record win over the USA at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
Dunne earned his European Tour Card at the Qualifying School last November having graduated with a degree in Business Finance from the University of Alabama, Birmingham
Shaun Murphy, KPMG Managing Partner in Ireland and Lead Director of the KPMG International Board said: “Paul Dunne is a tremendous young golfer. Our sponsorship with Paul reflects our passion for investing in young Irish talent. We applaud his commitment and skill and look forward to working with Paul.”
John Veihmeyer, Chairman of KPMG International, added: “We are excited to enter into this relationship with Paul. We believe that Paul’s passion for the game and maturity make him a natural fit to represent KPMG.”
