The global management giant announced today that "Northern Ireland’s Cormac Sharvin has turned professional and signed with the company for worldwide management and marketing representation."
The talented 23-year-old joins the professional ranks after a distinguished amateur career, which saw him rise as high as No. 14 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, as well as win the Irish Amateur Close Championship, the prestigious 2015 English Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship and the BUCS Student Tour Grand Final. To cap off his amateur career, he represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 2015 Walker Cup, posting a perfect winning record through his three matches.
No stranger to the professional circuit, Sharvin has already been featured in two events on the European Challenge Tour, but will make his professional debut at this week’s 2016 Oates Vic Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia, having received a special tournament invitation.
Commenting on the decision to join IMG, Sharvin said, “I’m delighted to join team IMG and can’t wait to start my professional career this week in Australia. IMG has experience of working with the best golfers and athletes around the world and I believe they are in the best position to help me achieve my goals for this year and throughout my professional career.”
Guy Kinnings, Global Head of Golf, IMG, added, “Cormac is one of the brightest young talents to come through the amateur ranks in recent years and has shown tremendous ability to achieve both on the course and in his studies at Stirling University. He has an appealing personality, is extremely passionate about the game and we look forward to helping his transition into professional golf and fulfilling his potential.”
