Carey 37th in Alps Tour Order of Merit as Wallace wins sixth title
David Carey saved the best for last when he closed with a bogey free 66 to tie for 19th in the season-ending Alps Tour Grand Final presented by AXA in Italy.
The 20-year old Dubliner made five birdies in an immaculate round at Miglianico Golf & Country Club in Abruzzo to pick up €811 and finish the season 37th in the Order of Merit with €7,551 from 16 starts.
England’s Matt Wallace was already guaranteed top spot in the money list but he finished the season in sensational fashion, closing with a 68 to win his sixth title from nine starts.
The 26-year old picked up €9,750, taking his season’s earnings €49,703 as he ended the week a shot clear of France’s Richard Jouven on 17 under par.
Despite earning promotion to the Challenge Tour, Wallace will miss the circuit.
“The Alps Tour will remain in my memory forever,” he said. "For the friends I met, for the countries I visited. I played on the European Tour, on the Challenge Tour but I never experienced such an atmosphere.”
