Hurley and Sharvin bound for US Amateur in Chicago

Brabazon Trophy winner Cormac Sharvin and West Waterford's Gary Hurley will likely miss the Home Internationals, scheduled for Royal Portrush from August 12-14, after they qualified for the US Amateur Championship at Olympia Fields from August 17-23.
The Island's Gavin Moynihan would also have been eligible to tee it up as a member of the 2013 Walker Cup side. However, with a professional career beckoning after his likely Walker Cup selection, Moynihan has little to gain from a tilt at a title that offers the winner a place in the Masters, The Open and the US Open in 2016.
Hurley and Sharvin have both entered and earn exemptions from Sectional Qualifying as they were in the Top 50 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings on June 24.
Olympia Fields has hosted four major championships—two U.S. Opens, 1928 and 2003, and two US PGA Championships, 1925 and 1961. Other events held at Olympia Fields include five Western Opens, and the 1997 U.S. Senior Open.
