Tralee offering massive prize fund and world ranking points for Kerry Scratch Cup
Tralee Golf Club has announced that there will be an increased prize fund and world ranking points on offer for the first time in June's 2015 Kerry Scratch Cup.
Sponsored by the Kerry Group, the prestigious 111-year old trophy will be played as a 54-hole tournament from June 13-14 with an increased prize fund of €2,250.
The overall winner will receive a voucher for €700 and have their name added to the trophy alongside some of the country’s best amateur golfers, including last years' winner Richard Knightly of Royal Dublin.
This year's event will offer World Amateur Golf Ranking and Munster Team Ranking points for the first time, which should attract a strong field.
The re-designed ninth hole will also be in play for this year's tournament while the club has also added a new short game practice area to further improve its facilities.
Tralee Golf Club Captain Ger O'Connor said: “We are delighted to bring the Kerry Scratch Cup to Tralee Golf Links and I would like to thank our sponsor Kerry Group for their generous support.
"The Kerry Scratch Cup will bring the country’s top amateur golfers to Tralee, as they take on the challenge of our links course, internationally regarded as one of the top 10 ocean courses in the world."
- The entry sheet for the Kerry Scratch Cup will open on Friday 1st May and is limited to 81 competitors.
- In the event of applications exceeding the number of places, entry will be based on lowest exact handicap received.
