Round-up: Murphy OK at Q-School

European Tour Qualifying School First Stage — Waterville's Mark Murphy was the only Irish player to come through the First Qualifying Stage Section A of the European Tour School.

The Kerryman closed with a one under par 71 to make the Top 17 and ties on the five under par limit with Damian Mooney missing out by one.

Scotland's Neil Fenwick led the 20 qualifiers for the Second Stage on 15 under but Alan Dunbar, amateur Dermot McElroy and Paul Cutler all missed out.

In the corresponding Section A tournament in Austria,  heavy rain and a waterlogged course cancelled play and it was decided to shorten the tournament format to 54 holes. That meant that 26 players progressed to Stage Two and Nico Geyger and Anders Schmidt Hansen shared the spoils atop the leaderboard with Omagh's Nial Kearns missing out.

The First Qualifying Stage continues next week with Section B qualifiers at Frilford Heath Blue (Entries) in England and Fleesensee Golf and Country Club in Germany (Entries).

Alps Tour — France's Thomas Elissalde overtook leader Matthieu Pavon in the Citadelle Trophy International at Golf de Priesche in northern France, carding a five under 67 for a narrow one shot advantage. But there was no luck for Ballyliffin's Brendan McCarroll, sixth in the money list, as he added a 74 to his opening 77 to mis the cut. Scores

eGolf Professional Tour — West Waterford's Seamus Power is eight shots off the lead and tied for 15th after a carding a third round 68 in the Island View Casino Championship in Gulfport, Mississippi. 

The three time former Irish Youths champion is eight shots behind Dustin Bray on 12 under par (scores) but leads the money list with more than $73,000 thanks to two wins and another nine Top-10 finishes from 13 starts.
