Doran and Wickham set pace in Irish Senior Women’s Close

Donabate's Pat Doran and Laytown and Bettystown's Carol Wickham fired one over par 74s to set the early pace after the first qualifying round of the ILGU’s Irish Senior Women’s Close Championship at Athenry.
Grange's Sheena McElroy is one shot further back on 75 with defending champion Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) and Laura Webb (East Berkshire) lying joint fourth on 76.
The field will play a further 18 holes over the immaculate parkland layout at Athenry tomorrow Wednesday, before the top 16 qualify for the Championship matchplay with players in positions seventeen through thirty-two qualifyog for the Plate matchplay.
