West Waterford's Seamus Power is just five shots off the lead in the Rex Hospital Open on the Web.com Tour.

The 27-year old, now based on the eGolf Professional Tour in the US, added a three under 68 to his opening 69 to share 18th place on five under par at TPC Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Having Monday qualified, a bogey free round moved the three-time former Irish Youth champion up 11 spots on the leaderboard.

American Harold Varner III shot a 65 to lead by a shot on 10 under from compatriot Max Homa.
