Disappointing finale for Ireland at Sotogrande
Jack Hume finished tied for fourth but it was a disappointing final day for Ireland in the European Nations Cup at Sotogrande as Scotland took the team title and Italy's Guido Migliozzi the individual crown.
Three off the lead going into the final day, Hume shot a two over 74 to end up five shots behind the Italian, who shot a 70 to win by three strokes from Scotland's Neil Bradley and Spain's Mario Galiano on one under 287.
Scotland finished top of the pile in the team competition on a countback from Italy on 878 with Ireland slipping from second overnight to fourth behind France on 880 after a countback.
Irish Close champion Cormac Sharvin shot a fine 69 to finish tied for 17th on 10 over but a 78 for Gary Hurley left him 22nd on 301 with Dermot McElroy's 83 relegating him to 37th on 306.
In the women's event, Denmark's Nanna Koerstz shot a 74 to win by three strokes from Albane Valenzuela of Switzerland with the team title going to France.
