Round-up — Power slips back at Q-School; Leopard Creek; Mauritius

Seamus Power carded his third successive sub-par score at the Web.com Tour Q-School but still lost ground on the leaders at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens.

The 27-year old West Waterford man birdied the last to post a one under 71 on the Fazio Course at the Florida resort but slipped 11 spots to tied 22nd on six under par. Scores

Power wants to finish as high up the leaderboard as possible in Florida though a Top 45 finish would be enough to guarantee him a card for the PGA Tour's second tier circuit.

With three rounds to go, he's now eight shots behind leader Brad Fritsch of Canada, who shot a seven under 65 on the Fazio Course to lead by two strokes on 12 under par.

Power had a poor day on the greens from short range and failed to build on early birdies at the third and fourth.

While he would also birdie the 14th and 18th, bogeys at the 13th 15th and 16th were not in his plans. 

European Tour — Kevin Phelan move up 20 spots to tied 43rd as Branden Grace saw his lead drastically reduced by the fast-finishing Lucas Bjerregaard going into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek Country Club.

As Phelan made two birdies and two bogeys in a 72 to remain at one under par,  world No 117 Grace count not maintain the form that saw him open with rounds of 62 and 66 with a 72 leaving him just one clear of  Dane Bjerregaard (66) on 16 under.

Last week’s Nedbank Challenge winner Danny Willett lies third on 14 under after a round of 67, with Francesco Molinari a shot further back in fourth following a round of 70.

European Senior Tour — Des Smyth is the best of the Irish, five shots behind leader David Frost in the season-ending MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius.

The Laytown and Bettystown legend (72-70) is tied 14th on two under with 2012 champion Frost one clear of  defending champion Paul Wesselingh on seven under.

Ronan Rafferty (74-71) is tied 23rd on one over with Philip Walton (73-75) three shots further back.
