Staunton and McGeady join McDermott in Irish PGA lead
Michael McDermottMichael McDermott followed his course record 65 with a two over 73 but still hung on to a share of the lead with Ballinasloe’s Mark Staunton and Derry’s Mick McGeady at the halfway stage in the PGA Irish Championship at Roganstown.
Staunton shot an excellent 68 and McGeady a 72 to leave the leading trio two strokes clear of Cian McNamara (70), Colm Moriarty (70) and Massereene’s Noel Murray (70) on four under par.
Royal Dublin’s Niall Kearney and Colin Park’s Peter Martin fired best of the day 67s to move to within three of the leading bunch on one under.
The cut fell at 10 over par 152 which saw Hazel Kavanagh make it on the mark after rounds of 78 and 74.
