Leona 21st as Ko wins in Singapore; Costello beaten in Spain

Leona Maguire finish 11 shots behind Lydia Ko in the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.

The New Zealander closed with a three-under 69 to win ($360,000) by four shots on 13-under from Japan’s Ayaka Furue and Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul at Sentosa’s Tanjong Course.

Maguire shot a pair of 69s at the weekend to tie 21st on two-under ($24,200).

In amateur golf, Roscommon's Olivia Costello (16) was beaten one-up by Spain's Nagore Salcedo Martinez (17) in the final of the Spanish Amateur Championship for the Copa de la Reina at Real Club de Golf El Prat near Barcelona.

Costello was three up at the turn, but Martinez won the 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th to snatch the title.

Connemara's Luke O'Neill also suffered disappointment, losing 5&4 to France's Hugo Le Goff in the semi-finals of Spanish Men's Amateur Championship for the Copa del Rey at Guadalhorce in Malaga.
