Tom McKibbin roared home in three-under to make the cut with ease in the weather-delayed Danish Golf Championship.

The Newtownabbey star (21) followed his opening 74 with a four-under 67 to move up to 34th on one-under before play was suspended due to high winds at Lübker Golf Resort.

He’s just four shots behind defending champion Rasmus Højgaard, who holds a five-way share of the lead.

The Dane held a two-stroke overnight lead after an opening round 65, but his advantage was reduced to one before he started his second round on Friday afternoon.

The 23-year-old moved to eight under par after birdies on the fourth and fifth holes, but dropped shots on the eighth, tenth and 11th holes saw him move back to five under with seven holes still to play.

Denmark's Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, who currently leads the Challenge Tour’s Road to Mallorca Rankings and Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan shot 66s to share the clubhouse lead on five-under with Frenchman Adrian Saddier, who shot 69.

Saddier’s compatriot Frederic Lacroix also moved to five under par with a birdie on the first hole, his tenth, just before play was suspended due to gusts of 46 miles per hour and sustained heavy winds.

The second round of the Danish Golf Championship will resume at 8 am on Saturday but Gary Hurley will not be in action when the third round begins with a two-tee start and a U-draw from 11:30 am at the earliest.

The West Waterford man made three birdies and three bogeys on the back nine turn on one-over.

But he came home in five-over 41 and shot 76 to miss the cut on six-over.
