Kearney, McKibbin and Yates set the pace for Irish golf

Niall Kearney leads the Irish in the Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga, nine shots behind India's Shubhankar Sharma.

At the Alps Tour's New Giza Open in Cairo, Naas' Jonathan Yates made seven birdies in a six-under 66 to share fifth place, just three strokes behind Spain's Joel Moscatel with West Waterford's Gary Hurley the next best Irishman after a 68. Scores

James Sugrue was tied 36th after a 70 with Conor Purcell and David Carey tied 56th after 71s.

Simon Bryan shot 74 to share 90th with Paul McBride five-over after a 77.
