Ireland face Portugal on day one in Octagonal International Trophy
Ireland face Portugal on the opening day in the Octagonal International Trophy at Club de Golf Costa Ballena in Spain.
Hosts Spain defend the title in an event which was played for the first time last year when the traditional quadrangular format was abandoned in favour or a four-day event for eight-nation event.
Spain, Portugal, Ireland and the Czech Republic have been drawn in the Red Group at Rota in Cadíz as England, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands face each other in the Blue Group for three days of round-robin, matchplay featuring three foursomes in the morning and six singles in the afternoon.
The winners of each group will face each other for the title on the final day as the second, third and fourth place finishers meet each other to decide the final standings.
Ireland is represented by Robert Brazill (Naas), Keith Egan (Carton House), Eanna Griffin (Waterford), Rowan Lester (Hermitage), Matthew McClean (Malone) and Peter O'Keeffe (Douglas).
