Malaga, Spain - Ireland's sextet of hopefuls will have to pull out all the stops to earn full status after the Alps Tour was forced to reduce the final stage of the Qualifying School from 54 to 36 holes at La Cala Resort.
Another night of heavy rain led to a delay in the resumption of the suspended second round but while play resumed at midday, just 78 minutes of play was possible before the Asia and America courses became unplayable.
As a result, round three has been cancelled and the tournament will be decided over 36 holes.
Play is scheduled to resume at 9:15 am on Sunday, and with sunny conditions forecast, officials are confident players will be able to complete their second rounds.
The leading 35 players and ties after 36 holes will be ranked according to score and eligible for Category 6 membership of the Alps Tour for the 2020 season.
Players finishing between the 36th and the 65th position will be eligible for membership in Category 8 while those finishing between 66th and 144th will be eligible for Category 9 status.
With nine-hole scoring in operation, Peter Dallat was tied for 31st with Gary Hurley on one-under and two-over for nine holes of his second round. Hurley was also two-over at the turn.
Galway's Ronan Mullarney (level after 9), Damian Murphy (two-over after 9) and Simon Bryan (yet to start) were tied for 59th on one-over-par, two strokes outside the top 35.
Michael Dallat was tied for 82nd on three-over (4-over through nine holes).
