Ireland's dream of five Home Internationals wins in a row ended when they lost 8.5-6.5 to England in a winner-takes-all final day showdown at Conwy in Wales
After sharing the foursomes 2.5-2.5 — Tom Sloman and Tom Plumb birdied the 18th to snatch a crucial halved match with Conor Purcell and Mark Power — England dominated the singles, winning six of the ten matches with David Langley edging out Alex Gleeson by two holes to clinch the decisive point.
Defeats for Robin Dawson and Purcell in the top two singles gave England the early advantage but while Mark Power beat Sloman by two holes, Ireland's middle order could not stop an impressive England outfit.
Defeats for Caolan Rafferty, James Sugrue, Robbie Cannon and Gleeson decided the matter though Peter O'Keeffe, Ronan Mullarney and Tiarnan McLarnon won their matches at the bottom of the order.
McLarnon finished the week with an impressive tally of six wins from six while Mullarney won five points on his debut.
