Wilson heads five-strong Irish challenge for French Junior Championship
Annabel Wilson will be hoping to top last year's win in the Under 18 Cartier Trophy when she heads a five-strong Irish challenge in the French International U21 Championship in Paris from March 29 to April 2.
The 16-year-old, who tied for eighth in the Portuguese Ladies Amateur Open last weekend, will be bidding to follow in the footsteps of 2009 winner Leona Maguire.
She will be joined at Golf de Saint-Cloud in her quest for the Esmond Trophy by Killarney's Valerie Clancy, Kanturk's Mairead Martin, Cork's Rachel Thompson and Castlewarden's Lauren Walsh.
The event, which consists of two rounds of stroke play qualifying followed by 5 rounds of match play, is one of the most prestigious on the calendar.
Wilson, who will head to UCLA, has shown promising form so far this year, clinching with two top 15 finishes in Argentina and Portugal as he tries to improve on last season's Cartier Trophy victory.
Irish Girls’ Team Captain Helen Jones (Royal Portrush) and Irish Girls’ Team Captain Chris Jelly will travel with the team.
