Senior Home Internationals: Ireland thumped 8-1 by England

Ireland failed to win any of their nine matches as they were thumped 8-1 by defending champions England on day one of the Seniors Home Internationals at Rosslare Golf Club.

The team featuring two members of the team that won the European Seniors Team Championship earlier this month lost all three foursomes in the morning and could only manage two halves from the six singles through Billy Donlon and Liam Halpin.

Ireland will now play Scotland, who beat Wales 6.5-2.5 in the other match.
