Irish amateur international John Ross Galbraith carded a second successive 70 to move up to joint fifth at halfway at the First Stage of the European Tour Q-School in Scotland.
The Whitehead star made five birdies in a two-under par effort in his Section A qualifier at The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course in Kelso to lie six strokes behind Denmark's Rasmus Hjelm, who added a 68 to his opening 66 to lead by three strokes on 10-under par from England's Sam Hutsby.
Galbraith is three shots inside the top 25 but Colm Moriarty is tied 37th on one-over after making four birdies and four bogeys in a second round 72.
Headfort's Joe Dillon (77-75) shares 81st on eight-over with Castlewarden's Mark Whelan (73-80) on nine-over and both are in danger of missing the 54-hole cut as players must be within seven shots of the qualifying mark going into the fourth round.
Play was suspended by darkness at Fleesensee in Germany following a delay for afternoon lightning with Sweden's Mathias Johansson leading in the clubhouse on two under, five behind German amateur Jonas Koelbing, the overnight leader.
Mount Juliet's Stephen Grant shot a two over 74 and shares 24th on one-over par with 49 players set to complete their second rounds on Thursday morning
