Watts and Power seek US Open spots

Larne amateur Stephen Watts and West Waterford's PGA Tour star Seamus Power will bid for US Open places at Sectional Qualifying on Monday.

Watts, a Junior at the Univesity of Toledo in Ohio, will be one of 77 players seeking just four spots at Springfield Country Club in Ohio.

Power tees it up at Germantown Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee where  108 entrants are chasing an as yet undetermined number of places.

Both Watts and Power are hoping to join Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Shane Lowry and Paul Dunne at Erin Hills in Wisconsin from June 15-18.
