McBride leads after round one in Mexico
The Island's Paul McBride fired a six-under-par 65 to grab the lead heading into this evening's second round of the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Mexico.
The Wake Forest star had a one-shot lead over Texas' Steven Chervony at Los Cabos Querencia Country Club in Baja California where the "Demon Deacons shared third spot after the opening day behind Oklahoma State and Texas.
“It was a very solid round from top to bottom,” said Wake Forest's head coach Jerry Haas. “Paul and Will [Zalatoris, 68] led the way.
"When your top two players shoot six-under and three-under, that helps, but all five grinded [sic] it out.
"Lee [Detmer] was solid with a 70. This course is tough, so it is important to keep putting the ball in play.”
