Leona just behind at Q-School
World Amateur No 1 Leona Maguire shot a third round 70 to lie just two strokes behind Hungary's Csicsi Rozsa and one adrift of England’s Georgia Hall and Korea’s Sandy Choi heading into the final round of the LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying Tournament Stage II in Florida.
The 22-year-old Duke University star only needs to complete 72 holes to earn Symetra Tour status and has no intention of teeing it up at Stage III to battle for one of 20 cards as LPGA rules would require her to turn professional immediately were she to pull it off.
Instead, she will complete her college studies as planned and turn professional after graduation in May.
At seven-under-par, she is tied for third with American Gabriella Then and the Czech Republic's Klara Spilkova after making four birdies and two bogeys on the Panther Course at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice.
Rozsa shot a 72 to lead on nine-under with Hall (69) and Choi (70) just one back.
