Moriarty and Kearney shine at School

The Glasson touring professional, who skipped Q-School last year and took nine months off to recharge, added a five under 67 to his opening 72 to lead by a shot from overnight pacesetter Ruaidhri McGee (74) on five under par.

So too is former amateur champion Alan Dunbar, who shot a second successive 73 to share eighth place on two-over while Ballymena amateur Dermot McElroy just inside the qualifying places, tied for 15th on the four-over par limit despite adding a 73 to his opening 75.
It was a day to forget, however, for Dunbar’s former Walker Cup partner Paul Cutler as he followed his first round 71 with an 81 featuring two birdies, nine bogeys and a double bogey.
The Portstewart man is now tied for 44th but still just four shots outside the top 22 and ties on eight over with David Jones (76) tied for 53rd and amateur Matt McAlpin (78) joint 59th on 10 over.
Meanwhile, at Fleesensee Golf and Country Club in northern Germany, Dublin’s Niall Kearney shot a four under 68 to share seventh place on seven under with the top 24 and ties to qualify. Fleesensee scores
The 25-year old Royal Dublin man is five shots behind leader John Han of the United States who shot a 65 to lead by one from overnight leader, German amateur Sebastian Schwind, on 12 under.
The other two Irishman in action in Germany have their work cut out now with rookie professional Simon Ward tied for 61st, six shots outside the top 24 on three over after a 73.
Limerick’s Cian McNamara failed to make a birdie in a six over 78 and lies joint 75th on six over, nine shots outside the qualifying places and in danger of missing the 54-hole cut.
