Daly wins Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge

Amid glorious sunshine at Irish golf HQ, Daly’s sublime short-game took him clear of the field in the seven-skill challenge.

Daly got off to the perfect start, scoring a maximum 30 points with his driver in the first challenge. A steady finish on the putting green saw him take the title ahead of Greenore’s Sean Murphy on countback after both men finished with 170 points.

Daly became the second ever National Champion, following in the footsteps of Beech Park’s Eamonn Donoghue, who won the inaugural Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge National Final in 2012.

In the team event – which was held for the first time in 2013 - Dublin club, Grange, took the men’s title, narrowly defeating Tullamore from Co Offaly.

The Grange trio of John Noonan (5), Kevin Pepper (13) and Eamon O’Brien (25) finished first after scores of 165, 140 and 70 respectively. Low-man Noonan led the way for Grange, shooting 165, which had him in contention for the individual title.

The ladies team title was captured by Limerick club, Castletroy. Shirley Real (6), Ann McCarthy (16) and Maura Devenney (22) combined for the Munster side to take top prize.
