Victories for Sophie Park and Joe Memery in Dublin Girls and Boys Championship
Grange’s Sophie Park and Elm Park’s Joe Memery claimed the top prizes in the Dublin Girls and Boys Championship at Grange on Monday.
Sophie took the gross in the girls with a fine round of 86 as Grange’s Cara Meaney, Isobel Ryan and Milltown’s Robin Gunne finished in the top three spots in the nett.
Ella Wojnar was the best Grange finisher in the girls event while in the boys, Memery had a fine 76 gross to edge out Grange’s Ciaran Murphy on the back nine as Edmondstown’s Ben Edwards took third place with an excellent 77.
The nett saw Denis Johnstone fire a 61 to win by five strokes from Harry Blake (66) and by six from Alan Delaney (67) as Dylan Timbs took the Grange member prize and Stackstown’s Ryan Barry and Faithlegg’s David Lucas Vasko won the under 12 and 11 prizes.
The event, which counts Grange legends Paul McGinley and Watty Sullivan as its patrons, had not been played since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
