Ryan wins Munster PGA Winter Series outing at Ballyneety
David Ryan fired seven birdies in a five-under 65 to rack up his second win of the season in the Munster PGA Winter Series at Ballyneety Golf Club.
Two weeks ago, Ryan teamed up with Callaway Golf’s Shane O'Sullivan to win the opening Fourball outing of the campaign at Castlemartyr Resort by five strokes with a sensational score of nine-under 63 .
This time around, the East Cork professional took advantage of perfect playing conditions at lovely Ballyneety in Co Limerick to win by three strokes and enjoy some post-round banter and good food in the club’s Vines Restaurant.
Mark Beckett was second with a 68 with Paul O’Neill also dipping into the red with a 69 to finish third.
David and Paul combined for a round of 61 to also claim the honours as the day’s Fourball winners.
Set on 183 acres of rolling Irish countryside with stunning views of Limerick city and county and the Clare Hills, Ballyneety’s 5,701-metre championship layout boasts sand-based greens and tees all built to USGA standards.
The course, which was co-designed by 2014 Ryder Cup Vice-Captain, Des Smyth and Irish Amateur International, Declan Branigan, opened for play in 1994.
