Castle Dargan the scene for Junior Cups and Shields Finals
The All Ireland Junior Cups and Shields finals will be played at Castle Dargan this weekend with a host of talented youngsters ready to take another step on the road to top-level competition.
The action begins with the Fred Daly Trophy on Saturday when Mullingar meet Muskerry and Roscommon face Slieve Russell hoping to put their names on the trophy for the first time.
Roscommon has a strong side with Simon Walker, Thomas Higgins, Cian O’Connor, Fionn Hoare and Kevin Connaughton all set for their clash with a Slieve Russell side featuring Dillon Beirne, Jamie Hughes, Odhran Maguire, Ryan McNelis and Oisin Rooney.
Mullingar have a host of promising talents in Adam Smith, Shane Murtagh, Lucas Kane and Mikey Mina Roynane and reserves Patrick Davitt and Matthew Cassidy.
But they face a Muskerry side beat a strong Limerick team with Fionn Hickey, Jack Egan, Zak Collins, Stephen Riordan and Eoghan O’Shaughnessy.
The Irish Junior Foursomes will be as hotly contested with Blainroe seeking their first All Ireland title.
The Co Wicklow side face Tuam with Jonathan Ryan, Conor Leonard, David Lally, Stephen Kenny, Liam Connelly and Sean Leonard in their panel as the Galway club looks to Dara Cunningham, Adam Carton, Oisin Roche and Ciaran McGrath to bring home the silverware.
Faithlegg played with Rory Fives and Kieran Houlihan and Alex King and Cormac Cadogan for their Munster win over Kilrush, but they face a tough task against reigning champions Warrenpoint.
The Ulster champions beat Belvoir Park by four holes and will keen to retain their title.
There will also be stiff competition for the Irish Boys Inter-Club Trophy with Oughterard, Tullamore, Tralee and Tandragee seeking glory in the singles strokeplay event.
