Sugrue wins fourth in a row at Cork

Dooks' Dan Sugrue continued his impressive run of form in the Winter Series for Munster PGA professionals when he chalked up his fourth win in a row at Cork Golf Club on Monday.

The Killarney native (40), who has made a remarkable return to fitness after undergoing a liver transplant, shot a five-under-par 67 to win by a stroke from Cahir Park's David Ryan as Castletroy's Gary Howie finished third with a fine 70.

Sugrue opened with five pars, then birdied the sixth and eighth before following a bogey at the ninth with an eagle at the 11th and birdies at the 15th and 17th.

He was pushed all the way by Ryan, who birdied the second, third and sixth before following bogeys at the ninth and 10th with birdies at the 11th, 15th and 16th.

John Dooley, Dan Sugrue and John Sugrue had nine birdies and an eagle as they amassed 72 points to win the team prize by three points by David Ryan, Liam Burns and David Hayes.

The next three confirmed events are Douglas on March 14, The Friends of Ian St John Day in Faithlegg on March 25 and The Morgan O'Donovan Perpetual Trophy in Monkstown on the April 15.

Two more events, scheduled for February 25 and April 1 will be confirmed shortly.
