Ireland tie for 13th in Youth Olympics
Ireland's Lauren Crowley Walsh and David Kitt tied for 13th in the Mixed Team event at the Youth Olympics in Argentina
They shot 151 in the final Cumulative Team Play round to tie with Spain, Germany and Chinese Taipei on six-over par at Hurlingham Club in Buenos Aires.
Ireland were tied for fifth overnight but playing cumulative team play for the first time — both players’ scores counted on each hole — Walsh shot a four-over 74 and Kitt a 77 as Ireland shot 11-over 151.
Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul and Vanchai Luangnitikul shot level par 140 on the final day to win the gold medal by a shot from the USA’s Lucy Li and Akshay Bhatia (141) on 12-under par with Ela Anaconda and Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira from hosts Argentina (138) third on seven-under.
