First Irish Senior Cup for Killarney women
Mairead Martin birdied the 17th to beat Lucy Simpson 2 and 1 and give a young Killarney team the Irish Senior Cup for the first time in their history following a 4-1 win over Royal Portrush at Royal Curragh.
After beating The Island 3-2 in the semi-finals, wins for Valerie Clancy over Gemma McClenaghan (4&3) and Kelly Brotherton over Naoimh Quigg (4&3) left the match in the balance with Royal Portrush leading in the other two matches.
However, Martin was two up with two to play and her birdie at the 17th secured the title for the Kerry club with the last two matches called in.
