McBride suffers in Mexico winds

Paul McBride added a five-over-par 76 to his opening 65 to slip back to tied 17th for Wake Forest in the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in windy Mexico.
Leading by one stroke following his six-under-par opening round, the 21-year-old Walker Cup prospect from The Island suffered in strong afternoon winds at Querencia Golf Club, mixing one birdie with four bogeys and double bogey.
At one-under-par, he's seven strokes behind Steven Chervony of Texas (66-68), who leads by two shots on eight-under -par from teammate Doug Ghim and Oklahoma State's Kristoffer Ventura.
Wake Forest shot 11-over on the second day and are in fifth place at four-over through 36 holes.
Oklahoma State is the second round leader at 16-under, followed by Texas at 13-under.
Baylor is in third place at 4-under, Washington is fourth at even par, four shots ahead of the fifth-place Demon Deacons.
“I have to hand it to these young men as they battled until the last putt,” said head coach Jerry Haas. “This course is a lot about where you start and we will start better tomorrow. We still have a ton to play for tomorrow, and I know the Deacs will fight hard.”
