Late birdie helps Carey make Tunisian cut
Alps Tour — Teenager David Carey birdied his final hole to make the cut on the mark in the Tunisian Golf Open.
The 19-year old Dubliner was three under early in his second round at El Kantaoui before slipping back to level for the round and two over for the tournament.
He needed a birdie at the ninth to make the cut and he got it, adding a 71 to his opening 74 to make the final round on one over 145
He’s 10 strokes behind England’s Matt Wallace, who increased his advantage by adding a 68 to his 67 to lead by five shots on nine under par from Spain’s David Borda and Italy’s Leonardo Sbarigia.
Tommy O’Driscoll (72 79, 151) missed the cut by six shots with his brothers, amateurs Eamonn (78 80, 158) and Dylan (84 77, 161) also outside the mark.
