Naas' Jack Hume fired a second successive level par 70 to lie just four shots off the lead at the halfway stage of the Argentinian Amateur Open Championship in Buenos Aires.

The reigning West of ireland champion, who is hoping to make this year's Walker Cup team, had four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey six to share 12th place at Tortugas Country Club on even par.

He's four adrift of Australia's Jarryd Felton, whose brace of 68s gave him a one stroke advantage over five players — Argentina's Nicolas Lezcano and Jose Chon, Australian compatriots Cameron Davis and Cory Crawford, and Frenchman Edgar Catherine.

West Waterford and Maynooth University man Gary Hurley added a 71 to his opening 72 to share 18th on three over with Whitehead's John-Ross Galbraith, the Irish Close champion, joint 26th on five over after a 74.

The Island's Gavin Moynihan left himself too much to do after an opening 77, finishing double-triple for a 78 and a 15 over total — six outside the cut mark.

The Irish quartet will remain in Argentina to compete in next week's Southern Cross Invitational at Nordelta Golf Club.
