Six birdies in a magical seven-hole stretch helped Banbridge's Richard Kilpatrick fire a super 63 to grab a share of the lead entering the final round of the Glenfarclas Open on PGA EuroPro Tour at Mar Hall in Glasgow.

The 32-year old's seven under effort left him joint top with Scottish amateur Craig Ross and fellow Scot Paul Shields on 10 under par.

Scores

Starting on the 10th, Kilpatrick birdied four holes in a row from the 13th and then birdied the 18th and the first to get to six under for the day before picking up another shot on the eighth.

Ross, who is hoping to represent Great Britain & Ireland in next year’s Walker Cup, would have had a two-shot lead but received a two-stroke penalty after removing a leaf from a bunker on the second, his 11th.

Clandeboye's Jonny Caldwell built on his fine performance on the Challenge Tour at Galgorm Castle last week and is just one behind the leading trio on nine under after a 67.

Colm Moriarty (70) and Tim Rice (67) are tied 31st on three under with David Rawluk (69) tied 44th on two under.

Stephen Grant, Mick McGeady, Cian Curley, Matt Mcalpin, Rick Weldon, Paul Cutler and Brian Sweeney missed the two under par cut.
