Archive picture: Pat Cashman/cashmanphotography.ie The University of Ulster captured the Irish Colleges Stroke Play championship in impressive fashion at Donegal Golf Club, finishing eight shots ahead of NUI Maynooth with Trinity College Redhawks in third place, writes the GUI.

It was a case of picking up where they left off for Ulster, who won the Irish Colleges Match Play Championship last year, and for their captain Ryan Gribben, the current Irish Intervarsity champion, who won the individual event by one shot from UCD’s Alex Gleeson with Gary Hurley (NUIM) a shot further back in third.

A second-round three-under 70 was enough for Emma O’Driscoll (UCD) to clinch the Ladies category by one shot from Ulster’s current Irish Ladies Close champion Paula Grant.

Donegal Golf Club was in tremendous condition and proved to be a wonderful host for the event.
